How to Start a New Line in a Cell in Google Sheets?

There are two ways to start a new line in a cell in Google Sheets:

1. Using the Alt+Enter keyboard shortcut

To start a new line in a cell using the Alt+Enter keyboard shortcut, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the text that you want to appear on the first line of the cell.
  2. Press Alt+Enter.
  3. Enter the text that you want to appear on the second line of the cell.

2. Using the \n character

To start a new line in a cell using the \n character, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the text that you want to appear on the first line of the cell.
  2. Type the \n character (backslash n) into the cell.
  3. Enter the text that you want to appear on the second line of the cell.
  4. Continue typing the \n character to add more lines to the cell.
