There are two ways to start a new line in a cell in Google Sheets:
1. Using the Alt+Enter keyboard shortcut
To start a new line in a cell using the Alt+Enter keyboard shortcut, follow these steps:
- Enter the text that you want to appear on the first line of the cell.
- Press Alt+Enter.
- Enter the text that you want to appear on the second line of the cell.
- Continue pressing Alt+Enter to add more lines to the cell.
2. Using the \n character
To start a new line in a cell using the \n character, follow these steps:
- Enter the text that you want to appear on the first line of the cell.
- Type the \n character (backslash n) into the cell.
- Enter the text that you want to appear on the second line of the cell.
- Continue typing the \n character to add more lines to the cell.
The \n character is a special character that tells Google Sheets to start a new line. You can use the \n character in any cell, not just text cells.
