Downloading Your Facebook Data: A Step-by-Step Guide

  10. Once notified, return to the Download Your Information page.
  11. Click Available Files and download the ZIP file.
  12. Secure your data: Use a strong password to protect your downloaded file, especially if it contains sensitive information.



On Your Mobile App:

  1. Open the Facebook app and tap the hamburger menu (three lines) in the bottom right corner (Android) or top right corner (iOS).
  2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then select Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Your Facebook Information.
  4. Tap Download Your Information.
  5. Tap Request a Download.
  6. Select Complete copy and choose your desired date range.
  7. Tap Submit request.
  8. Wait for your file: Facebook will notify you by app notification when your file is ready for download.
  9. Follow the same steps as on desktop to download and secure your data.

Tips:

  • Downloading your data can be bandwidth-intensive, so consider connecting to Wi-Fi for faster speeds.
  • The downloaded file will be in ZIP format, and you’ll need a decompression tool like WinZip or WinRAR to open it.
