WhatsApp doesn’t have a built-in “quote” feature like some other messaging apps. However, you can still reference or highlight a specific message from a conversation by using a manual method. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open WhatsApp: Launch the WhatsApp application on your device.
  2. Navigate to the Conversation: Go to the conversation in which you want to quote a message.
  3. Select and Copy the Message: Tap and hold the message you want to quote until a menu appears. Select the “Copy” option from the menu to copy the message to your device’s clipboard.
  4. Reply to the Message: Tap the “Reply” button (usually indicated by a curved arrow icon) located below the message entry field.
  5. Paste the Copied Message: In the message entry field, tap and hold until the “Paste” option appears. Tap on “Paste” to insert the copied message into the field.
  6. Add Your Response: After pasting the message, you can add your response above or below it, which effectively quotes the original message.

While this method isn’t as streamlined as a dedicated quoting feature, it serves the purpose of referencing a specific message in your response. Keep in mind that WhatsApp is frequently updated, so there’s a possibility that new features have been introduced since my last update in September 2021. It’s always a good idea to explore the latest version of the app to see if any changes have been made to the quoting or referencing process.
