To delete a Facebook group, you need to be the group’s admin. As of my last update in September 2021, here’s how you can delete a Facebook group using both desktop and mobile devices:
Delete a Facebook Group on Desktop:
- Log In to Facebook: Open a web browser, go to the Facebook website, and log in to your account.
- Navigate to the Group: From the left sidebar on your Facebook homepage, click on “Groups.” Select the group you want to delete.
- Access Group Settings: Click on the “More” button (three dots) located below the group cover photo. From the dropdown menu, select “Manage Group.”
- Go to Settings: In the left sidebar, click on “Settings.”
- Scroll Down and Delete Group: Scroll down to the “Advanced Settings” section. At the bottom of the section, you’ll find the “Delete Group” option. Click on the link.
- Confirm Deletion: A confirmation window will appear. Read the information and click “Delete.”
Delete a Facebook Group on Mobile:
- Open Facebook App: Open the Facebook app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Group: Tap on the three horizontal lines (menu icon) in the bottom-right corner to open the menu. Under “Groups,” select the group you want to delete.
- Access Group Settings: Tap on the “More” button (three dots) located below the group cover photo. From the options, choose “Group Settings.”
- Go to General Settings: Scroll down and tap on “General.”
- Delete Group: Scroll down to the “Membership” section. At the bottom, you’ll find the “Delete Group” option. Tap on it.
- Confirm Deletion: A confirmation window will appear. Read the information and tap “Delete.”
Please be aware that deleting a Facebook group is irreversible. Once a group is deleted, all the group’s content, including posts and member information, will be permanently removed. Therefore, make sure you want to delete the group before proceeding. Additionally, Facebook’s interface and features may have changed since my last update, so always refer to the latest information on Facebook’s official help resources.
