How to block, unsubscribe, or report emails on Gmail

There are a few ways to block, unsubscribe, or report emails on Gmail.

Block an email sender

To block an email sender, follow these steps:

  1. Open the email from the sender you want to block.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the email.
  3. Select “Block [sender]”.

Unsubscribe from an email list

To unsubscribe from an email list, follow these steps:

  1. Open the email from the list you want to unsubscribe from.
  2. Look for the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
  3. Click the unsubscribe link.

Report an email as spam

To report an email as spam, follow these steps:

  1. Open the email you want to report.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the email.
  3. Select “Report spam”.

Filter emails

You can also use Gmail’s filters to automatically block, unsubscribe, or report emails. To create a filter, follow these steps:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right corner of Gmail.
  2. Select “Settings”.
  3. Click the “Filters” tab.
  4. Click the “Create a filter” button.
  5. Enter the criteria for the filter, such as the sender’s email address or the subject line.
  6. Select the action you want to take, such as blocking, unsubscribing, or reporting the email.
  7. Click the “Create filter” button.
