There are two main ways to replace a Texas driver’s license: online or in person at a Driver License Office (DL Office).

Online Replacement (if eligible)

  • You can replace your license online if it’s lost or stolen and you don’t need to change any information on it.
  • To see if you’re eligible, visit the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website: [Texas Replace Driver License Online]

In-Person Replacement

  • You can visit any DL Office in Texas to replace your license.

  • Here’s what you’ll need to do:

    • Gather the required documents:
      • Completed application form DL-43 (available at the DL Office or you can print it from the DPS website [Texas DPS Driver License Application])
      • Proof of identity (one primary, secondary, or supporting document) – Examples include birth certificate, passport, Social Security card, etc. You can find a complete list on the DPS website.
    • Pay the replacement fee.
    • Visit a DL Office and wait for your turn.
