There are several ways to insert a horizontal line in Word:
Using the Ribbon:
- Place your cursor where you want the line to appear.
- Click the Home tab.
- In the Paragraph group, click the Borders drop-down arrow.
- Select Horizontal Line.
Typing Hyphens or Equal Signs:
- Place your cursor where you want the line to appear.
- Type three or more hyphens (—) or three or more equal signs (===) in a row.
- Press Enter on your keyboard.
Using AutoCorrect:
- Type three or more underscores (___) where you want the line to appear.
- Press Enter.
- Word will automatically convert the underscores to a horizontal line.
You can also double-click a horizontal line to open the Borders and Shading dialog box, where you can customize its appearance.
