Deciding how to handle someone on Facebook depends on your comfort level and desired outcome. Here’s a breakdown of all three options:

Hide:

  • This hides someone’s posts from your News Feed but doesn’t affect your friendship status. They can still see your posts and send you messages.
  • On Desktop: Click the three dots on the upper right corner of their post and select “Hide post.”
  • On Mobile: Tap the three dots on the top right corner of their post and choose “Hide post.”

Unfriend:

  • This removes them from your Friends list and hides their posts from your News Feed. You can still re-friend them later if you wish.
  • On Desktop: Click “Friends” from their profile, then select “Unfriend.”
  • On Mobile: Tap “Manage Friendship” on their profile, then choose “Unfriend.”

Block:

  • This is the strongest option and prevents them from interacting with your profile in any way. They can’t see your posts, send you messages, or even search for you on Facebook.
  • On Desktop: Click the arrow on the top right corner of Facebook, select “Settings & Privacy,” then “Blocking.” Search for their name and click “Block.”
  • On Mobile: Tap the three lines on the bottom right corner of Facebook, then choose “Settings & Privacy” followed by “Blocking.” Search for their name and tap “Block.”

Additional Tips:

  • You can hide specific people, groups, or pages from your News Feed through Facebook’s “Snooze” feature.
  • If you’re concerned about harassment or abusive behavior, you can report them to Facebook directly.

Remember, the best approach depends on your specific situation and relationship with the person. Choose the option that makes you feel most comfortable and safe.
