How to Dial an Extension on iPhone and Android

When making a call that requires dialing an extension, both iPhone and Android devices provide options for easily entering the extension. Here are the steps for both devices:

On iPhone:

  1. Dial the phone number you wish to call.
  2. Once the call connects, you will see a keypad icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Tap on it to display the keypad.
  3. Enter the main phone number and wait for the automated system to prompt you to enter an extension.
  4. Once you hear the prompt, tap on the “Pause” button on the keypad (it looks like a comma) to add a pause between the main number and the extension.
  5. Enter the extension number and tap on the call button to connect to the extension.

On Android:

  1. Dial the phone number you wish to call.
  2. Once the call connects, you will see a keypad icon in the bottom of the screen. Tap on it to display the keypad.
  3. Enter the main phone number and wait for the automated system to prompt you to enter an extension.
  4. Once you hear the prompt, tap on the “Add Call” button and dial the extension number.
  5. Tap on the call button to connect to the extension.

Note that these steps may vary slightly depending on the device and operating system version you are using. Additionally, some automated systems may require different methods for entering an extension, such as pressing the pound (#) key instead of a pause.
