How to Add Friends on Discord?

Adding friends on Discord is a straightforward process. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Open Discord: Launch the Discord application on your computer or mobile device and log in with your Discord account.

2. Find Your Friend’s Username: Ask your friend for their Discord username and four-digit discriminator (the four numbers after their username, separated by a #). For example, if their username is “JohnDoe” and the discriminator is “#1234,” their complete Discord ID is “JohnDoe#1234.”

3. Send a Friend Request: Once you have your friend’s Discord ID, follow these steps to send them a friend request:

On Desktop:

  • Click on the “Home” icon (house-shaped) in the left sidebar to go to your Discord home screen.
  • In the “Friends” section on the right side, click the “Add Friend” button (person icon with a plus sign).
  • Enter your friend’s Discord ID (username#discriminator) in the “Username” field.
  • Click the “Send Friend Request” button to send the request.

On Mobile:

  • Tap the “Friends” icon (person silhouette) at the bottom of the screen to go to your friends list.
  • In the top right corner, tap the “Add Friend” button (person icon with a plus sign).
  • Enter your friend’s Discord ID (username#discriminator) in the “Username” field.
  • Tap the “Send” button to send the friend request.

4. Wait for Acceptance: Once you send the friend request, your friend will receive a notification about the request. They can choose to accept or decline it. If they accept the request, you will become friends on Discord, and you can see each other’s online status, join the same servers, and communicate more easily.

Managing Friend Requests:

  • To manage your incoming and outgoing friend requests on desktop, click on your profile picture in the bottom left corner, then click on “Friends” in the menu that appears. You can see pending friend requests in the “Incoming” tab and your outgoing friend requests in the “Outgoing” tab.
  • On mobile, you can see your friend requests by tapping the “Friends” icon at the bottom of the screen and navigating to the “Incoming” tab.

Remember to be cautious when accepting friend requests from people you don’t know, as Discord is a public platform, and accepting requests from strangers may expose your personal information to them. Always prioritize your safety and privacy when using online platforms.
