How to Enable Pop-Ups in Chrome on Your Computer
Here’s how to enable pop-ups in Google Chrome on your computer:
1. Open Chrome Settings:
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the Chrome window.
- This opens the Chrome menu.
- From the menu, select “Settings”.
2. Access Site Settings:
- On the Settings page, scroll down and click on the option labeled “Privacy and security.”
- Within the “Privacy and security” section, click on “Site Settings.”
3. Manage Pop-ups and Redirects:
- Under “Site Settings,” find the option for “Pop-ups and redirects.”
4. Choose Your Pop-up Preference:
Here, you have two options:
- Allow sites to send pop-ups and redirects: This will enable pop-ups for all websites by default. (Not recommended for security reasons as some pop-ups can be malicious)
- Block (recommended): This is the default setting and will block pop-ups on all websites.
5. Manage Pop-ups for Specific Sites (Optional):
- If you only want to allow pop-ups from specific websites you trust, you can click on “Add” next to “Allow” under “Pop-ups and redirects.”
- In the address bar that appears, type the website URL for which you want to allow pop-ups.
- Click “Add” again.
Now, pop-ups will be allowed from that specific website, while remaining blocked on other sites.
Important Security Note:
Enabling pop-ups can be a security risk because some malicious websites use pop-ups to spread malware or trick you into clicking on harmful links. It’s generally recommended to keep pop-ups blocked and only allow them for trusted sites that you know you’ll interact with pop-ups on (like e-commerce sites where pop-ups might display special offers).
