There are two methods for reconnecting a Wii Remote to your Wii console: Standard Mode and One Time Mode.
Standard Mode (Adding a new remote or re-syncing a previous remote):
- Turn on your Wii console.
- Open the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote. Make sure you have fresh batteries inserted.
- Locate the SYNC button on the Wii Remote. It’s a small red button located under the battery compartment, near the bottom of the remote.
- Open the SD card slot cover on the front of the Wii console. It’s a small flap on the front of the console, next to the disc drive.
- Locate the SYNC button on the Wii console. It’s a small red button located inside the SD card slot compartment.
- Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii Remote. The Player LEDs (small lights on the front of the remote) will start blinking rapidly.
- While the Player LEDs are blinking, press and release the SYNC button on the Wii console.
- One of the Player LEDs on the Wii Remote will turn solid blue, indicating a successful sync. The specific LED that turns blue corresponds to the player number assigned to the remote (1 to 4).
One Time Mode (For temporary use on a different console):
- Turn on the Wii console you want to use.
- Press and hold the SYNC button on the Wii Remote for a few seconds. The Player LEDs will start blinking rapidly.
- While the Player LEDs are blinking, press and hold the SYNC button on the Wii console for a few seconds.
- One of the Player LEDs on the Wii Remote will turn solid blue, indicating a temporary sync. This remote will work with this console until the Wii Remote is powered off or the console detects another synced remote.
Here are some additional tips:
- If you’re having trouble syncing your remote, try using fresh batteries.
- Make sure there are no obstructions between the Wii Remote and the console.
- You can sync up to four Wii Remotes to a single Wii console.
