Once you’ve downloaded an area, you can use Google Maps for navigation even without an internet connection. Here’s how:
- Make sure you’re in the downloaded area. Google Maps will only work offline within the downloaded boundaries.
- Search for your destination or tap on a saved location.
- Tap on “Directions” as usual.
- Google Maps will provide turn-by-turn navigation even without an internet connection.
Additional Tips:
- You can download multiple areas for offline use.
- Downloaded maps automatically expire after 30 days, and you’ll need to update them to keep them usable.
- While offline, you won’t have access to real-time traffic information, live directions, or alternative routes.
- To manage your downloaded maps, open the Google Maps app, tap your profile picture or initial, then tap “Offline maps”. Here you can view, update, or delete downloaded maps.
By following these steps, you can download specific areas and navigate offline with Google Maps on your Android device, ensuring you have access to navigation even without an internet connection.
