To use Low Power Mode on an iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on “Battery.”
  3. In the Battery settings, you’ll find the “Low Power Mode” option. Tap the toggle switch next to it to enable Low Power Mode. The switch will turn green when it’s activated.
  4. Alternatively, you can quickly enable Low Power Mode from the Control Center. Swipe down from the top-right corner (iPhone X or later) or swipe up from the bottom (iPhone 8 or earlier) to access the Control Center. Tap the battery icon, and it will enable Low Power Mode.

Once Low Power Mode is activated, several features and functions on your iPhone will be adjusted to conserve battery life. Here’s what Low Power Mode does:

  1. Battery optimization: Your iPhone will automatically optimize various settings to reduce power consumption. This includes minimizing background app refresh, disabling automatic downloads, and reducing visual effects.
  2. Performance adjustments: Some system performance will be reduced to extend battery life. This may result in slower app launch times and reduced frame rates in graphics-intensive apps.
  3. Mail fetch: Fetching new email data will be limited to manual updates, and push email will be disabled. You will only receive new emails when you open the Mail app.
  4. Hey Siri: The “Hey Siri” voice activation feature will be disabled. You can still use Siri by pressing and holding the Home button (or Side button on newer models).
  5. Automatic screen lock: The screen will lock after a shorter period of inactivity.
  6. Background app refresh: Background app activity will be minimized, and apps will refresh less frequently when not in use.

It’s important to note that while Low Power Mode conserves battery life, some functions and features may be temporarily limited or adjusted. Once your iPhone’s battery level reaches 80% or higher, Low Power Mode will automatically turn off.

You can customize Low Power Mode settings by going to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. There, you can choose to enable or disable specific features like Mail fetch, background app refresh, and auto-lock.

Using Low Power Mode can be helpful when your iPhone’s battery is running low and you need to extend its battery life until you have access to a charger.
