How to scan with an iPhone

Scanning documents with your iPhone is a breeze, and it can be a lifesaver for decluttering your life and keeping important paperwork organized. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to scan documents with your iPhone:

Using the Notes App:

  1. Open the Notes app on your iPhone.
  2. Create a new note or open an existing one where you want to add the scan.
  3. Tap the plus sign (+) button in the bottom right corner.
  4. Select Scan Documents.
  5. Position your document within the frame on your screen. Your iPhone will automatically detect the edges of the document.
  6. Tap the Shutter button or one of the volume buttons to capture the scan.
  7. If you’re happy with the scan, tap Keep Scan. Otherwise, tap Retake to capture it again.
  8. You can scan multiple pages by following steps 5-7 for each page.
  9. Once you’ve scanned all the pages, tap Done.

Additional Tips:

  • Make sure your document is in a well-lit area with minimal glare.
  • Hold your iPhone steady and parallel to the document for the best results.
  • You can adjust the corners of the scan after capturing it to ensure it’s aligned properly.
  • You can add annotations, signatures, and other edits to your scans within the Notes app.

Using the Files App:

  1. Open the Files app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the scan.
  3. Tap the three dots button (…) in the top right corner.
  4. Select Scan Documents.
  5. Follow steps 5-9 from the Notes app instructions above.
