My iPhone or iPad Screen Won’t Rotate. How Do I Fix It?

If your iPhone or iPad screen won’t rotate, there are several things you can try to fix it:

  1. Check the orientation lock: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center, and check if the orientation lock icon is highlighted. If it is, tap on it to turn it off. This should allow your screen to rotate again.
  2. Check the app: Some apps, such as games or video players, may have their own orientation lock. Check the app’s settings to see if there is an option to lock or unlock screen rotation.
  3. Restart your device: Restarting your device can sometimes fix issues with the screen orientation. To do this, press and hold the power button until the “slide to power off” option appears, then slide the bar to turn off your device. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
  4. Reset all settings: If the above steps don’t work, try resetting all settings on your device. This will not erase any of your data, but will reset your device’s settings to their default values. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
  5. Restore your device: If none of the above steps work, you may need to restore your device to its factory settings. This will erase all of your data, so make sure you have a backup before proceeding. To restore your device, connect it to your computer and open iTunes. Click on the device icon, then click on “Restore iPhone” or “Restore iPad.” Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restore process.

If none of these steps fix the issue, it may be a hardware problem and you should contact Apple support for further assistance.
