FLORIDA – Reigning Miss United States and prominent Florida Republican, Lindsey Langston, has ignited a political firestorm with serious allegations against U.S. Representative Cory Mills. According to a police report filed with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, Langston accuses Mills of threatening to release private, intimate videos and images of her after she ended their relationship. The allegations have sent shockwaves through the political world, raising questions about personal conduct and the use of power.

The complaint, filed on July 14, outlines a three-year relationship between the two, which Langston claims began in November 2021. The beauty pageant titleholder, who also serves as a Columbia County Republican State Committeewoman, told investigators that the relationship ended in February 2025. Her decision to break up with Mills was reportedly triggered by media coverage linking the Congressman to a separate alleged assault involving another woman in Washington, D.C. Mills and the other woman have both denied any wrongdoing in that prior incident.

In her official report, Langston detailed the threats, stating that after the breakup, Mills repeatedly contacted her from various accounts. She provided text messages and Instagram messages to law enforcement as evidence, which allegedly show Mills threatening to release the shared explicit materials and also to harm any men she might date in the future. One of the messages, shared publicly by her attorney, reportedly shows a chilling exchange where Mills responds to her request to be left alone with a threat to send videos to a new partner.

The Timeline and The Evidence

Langston’s relationship with Rep. Mills began before his election to Congress in 2022. She told investigators she believed he was separated from his wife at the time, and they had discussed starting a family together. The relationship reportedly continued with her moving into his New Smyrna Beach home. However, the dynamic shifted following the February 2025 incident in Washington D.C. The police report states that Langston confronted Mills, who denied any romantic involvement with the other woman. Langston, however, found contradictory evidence on social media, which she presented to the authorities.

The text message evidence released by Langston’s attorney, Anthony Sabatini, a former political rival of Mills, provides a stark glimpse into the alleged threats. One message, dated May 22, reportedly says, “I’m sorry to see this is how you treat things. Good luck to you. Thanks again for the videos.” Another from June 12, after Langston blocked his number, shows a message that ominously reads, “I hope you hold your crown until the end.” Langston is reportedly also seeking a restraining order against Mills.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the complaint and all evidence, including text messages and a recorded interview with Langston, have been forwarded to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for further investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed against the Congressman.

Mills’ Response and Political Fallout

In a statement to media outlets, Rep. Mills has vehemently denied the allegations. He stated he was “unaware of any report or official complaint” and that the accusations “misrepresent the nature of my interactions.” Mills also accused Langston’s attorney, Anthony Sabatini, of engaging in a politically motivated attack. “These claims are false,” Mills said, adding that he has always conducted himself with integrity. The Congressman, who represents Florida’s 7th Congressional District, is in a contentious re-election campaign.

The political fallout has been immediate. Mills, a Republican incumbent, is a target for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Democratic opponents in his race have also seized on the allegations, calling him “unfit to serve” and highlighting a pattern of alleged troubling behavior. In a statement, one of his opponents, Noah Widmann, said, “The courage it takes to come forward should be met with respect, not silence or dismissal.” Another opponent, Jennifer Adams, also a survivor of domestic abuse, echoed these sentiments, stating, “This isn’t just political. It’s personal.”

The allegations of “revenge porn” and threats of violence are considered serious offenses under Florida law and federal law. While legal experts note that it’s difficult to predict the outcome without knowing the full scope of the evidence, the public nature of the allegations and the involvement of an elected official ensure that this case will remain under intense scrutiny.

Community and Ethical Concerns

Beyond the political arena, this story touches on important community and ethical concerns. Langston, who is also a children’s book author and an advocate for American agriculture, expressed fear that her complaint could put her “at risk,” especially given Mills’ status as a public figure. Her bravery in coming forward, despite these fears, has been highlighted by her supporters.

The situation also raises questions about accountability for public officials. The allegations come at a time when there is a heightened awareness of issues like domestic abuse, harassment, and the non-consensual sharing of intimate media. The FDLE’s investigation will determine the next steps in the legal process. The outcome could have significant implications for Mills’ political future and set a precedent for how such allegations are handled when they involve powerful public figures.

As this story continues to develop, all eyes will be on Florida’s legal and political systems to see how they handle this high-profile case. The coming weeks are likely to bring more details, statements, and potential legal filings as both sides prepare for what could be a drawn-out and contentious battle.
