How to translate a web page in Google Chrome on desktop or mobile

Google Chrome offers a built-in translation feature that allows you to translate web pages into your preferred language. You can use this feature on both desktop and mobile versions of Google Chrome. Here’s how to do it:

On Desktop (Windows, macOS, and Linux):

  1. Open Google Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer.
  2. Visit the Web Page: Go to the web page you want to translate.
  3. Translate Page Automatically:
    • If Google Chrome detects that the web page is in a language different from your default language, it will display a translation icon (a “Translate” button) in the address bar at the top.
    • Click on the “Translate” button.
    • Chrome will automatically translate the web page into your default language.
  4. Manual Translation:
    • If the translation icon doesn’t appear automatically, or if you want to translate the page into a language other than your default language, right-click anywhere on the page.
    • From the context menu, select “Translate to [your language].” This will initiate the translation.
  5. Adjust Translation Settings (Optional):
    • To change your translation settings or translate the page back to its original language, click the “Options” link in the translation bar that appears at the top of the page.

On Mobile (iOS and Android):

  1. Open Google Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome app on your mobile device.
  2. Visit the Web Page: Navigate to the web page you want to translate.
  3. Translate Page Automatically:
    • If Chrome detects that the web page is in a different language, it may display a translation bar at the bottom of the screen.
    • Tap on “Translate.”
    • Chrome will automatically translate the page into your device’s default language.
  4. Manual Translation:
    • If the translation bar doesn’t appear automatically or if you want to choose a different translation language, tap the three-dot menu icon (⋮) in the top-right corner of the Chrome app.
    • Select “Translate” from the menu.
    • Choose the target language you want to translate the page into.
  5. Adjust Translation Settings (Optional):
    • After translating the page, you can adjust translation settings by tapping the “Settings” (gear) icon in the translation bar.

Keep in mind that the quality of translation may vary depending on the language and the complexity of the content. Additionally, not all web pages may be eligible for translation, and some websites may have disabled this feature.
