Here’s how you can share your screen on FaceTime
1. Make sure you have the latest iOS version:
Before attempting to share your screen, ensure that your iPhone or iPad is running the latest iOS version. You can check for updates in the Settings app under “General” > “Software Update.”
2. Initiate a FaceTime Call:
Start a FaceTime call with the person you want to share your screen with.
3. During the FaceTime Call:
Once the FaceTime call is active, follow these steps:
- On iPhone:
- During the call, locate and tap the FaceTime icon (a small camera) on the screen.
- A menu will appear with options such as Mute, Flip, and Effects.
- Look for the “SharePlay” icon (it resembles two overlapping screens) in the menu.
- On iPad:
- During the call, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center.
- In the Control Center, find and tap the “Screen Mirroring” icon (it looks like a rectangle with a triangle at the bottom).
- Choose your device from the list to start screen sharing.
4. Select Screen Sharing Options:
After tapping the SharePlay icon on the iPhone or choosing your device from the Screen Mirroring options on iPad, you may be prompted to select what you want to share:
- Entire Screen: Share everything displayed on your device.
- App Window: Choose a specific app or window to share.
5. Stop Screen Sharing:
To stop sharing your screen during the FaceTime call:
- On iPhone, tap the SharePlay icon again and choose “Stop Sharing Screen.”
- On iPad, open the Control Center, tap “Screen Mirroring,” and select “Stop Mirroring.”
Note:
- Screen sharing on FaceTime may not be available in all regions or on all devices.
- Features and interfaces may change with iOS updates, so make sure to refer to the latest iOS documentation or Apple’s support resources if you encounter any difficulties.
Always be mindful of privacy and only share your screen with trusted contacts. If there have been changes or new features added after my last update in January 2022, I recommend checking the official Apple support resources for the most up-to-date information.
