Google Hangouts is a communication platform that allows you to chat, make voice and video calls, and share photos and videos. Here’s how to set up and use Google Hangouts on desktop or mobile:
Setting up Google Hangouts on Desktop:
- Go to the Google Hangouts website (hangouts.google.com) and sign in with your Google account.
- On the Google Hangouts page, click the “Download Hangouts” button to install the Hangouts Chrome extension.
- After installation, the Hangouts icon will appear on your browser’s toolbar.
- Click the Hangouts icon to open the app and start using it.
Setting up Google Hangouts on Mobile:
- Download the Google Hangouts app from the App Store (for iPhone) or the Google Play Store (for Android).
- Open the app and sign in with your Google account.
- Allow the app to access your contacts, microphone, and camera if prompted.
Using Google Hangouts on Desktop or Mobile:
- Start a conversation: To start a new conversation, click the “New Conversation” button and select the contact you want to chat with.
- Make a voice or video call: To make a voice or video call, click the phone or video camera icon in the upper right corner of the conversation.
- Share photos or videos: To share photos or videos, click the camera icon in the conversation, select the files you want to share, and click the “Send” button.
- Group chat: You can also create a group chat by selecting multiple contacts and clicking the “Start a group chat” button.
Note: Google Hangouts works best when using the Google Chrome browser on desktop, and the Hangouts app on mobile.
