How to power off or lock the screen of an iPhone with a broken power button

If your iPhone’s power button is broken or unresponsive, you can still power off or lock the screen using the AssistiveTouch feature. Here are the steps to do it:

  1. Go to “Settings” on your iPhone.
  2. Tap “General” and then “Accessibility”.
  3. Scroll down and tap “AssistiveTouch”.
  4. Turn on the “AssistiveTouch” toggle switch.
  5. A small, round, virtual button will appear on the screen. Tap it.
  6. Tap “Device” and then “Lock Screen” to turn off the screen.
  7. To power off your iPhone, tap the virtual button, and then tap and hold the “Lock Screen” icon.
  8. An option to “Slide to power off” will appear. Slide the slider to the right to turn off your iPhone.

Note: Turning off your iPhone using this method will not harm your device. However, it is not recommended to use this as a regular way to power off your device, as the longer-term use of AssistiveTouch may cause battery drain. It is best to have the power button repaired or replaced by an authorized technician as soon as possible.
