In Minecraft, you can create Nether Portals and End Portals to access different dimensions of the game world. Here’s how to make both types of portals:
1. Nether Portal:
The Nether is a dangerous and fiery dimension in Minecraft that can be accessed through Nether Portals. To make a Nether Portal, you will need obsidian blocks and a way to ignite the portal.
Materials needed:
- 10 Obsidian blocks
- Flint and Steel (to ignite the portal)
Steps to create a Nether Portal:
- Mine Obsidian: Obsidian can be obtained by mining it with a diamond or netherite pickaxe. You’ll need at least 10 blocks of obsidian.
- Choose a Portal Shape: Decide on the shape and size of your portal. A standard portal is a rectangular frame that is at least 4 blocks tall and 5 blocks wide, but it can be larger if you prefer.
- Build the Frame: Build the rectangular frame with your obsidian blocks. Leave the center area of the frame empty.
- Ignite the Portal: To activate the portal, use your Flint and Steel and right-click (or left-trigger, depending on your platform) on the inside of the frame. The portal should activate with a purple, swirly texture.
- Enter the Nether: Walk into the portal to enter the Nether dimension.
2. End Portal:
The End is a mysterious dimension in Minecraft where you’ll find the Ender Dragon. To access the End, you need to activate and enter an End Portal, which is found in strongholds.
Materials needed:
- Eye of Ender (at least 12)
- Stronghold location
Steps to create an End Portal:
- Locate a Stronghold: You will need to locate a stronghold first. Strongholds are usually found underground and can be located using Eye of Ender. Throw an Eye of Ender (crafted with blaze powder and ender pearls) and follow its trajectory to locate a stronghold. You’ll need to throw Eyes of Ender multiple times to pinpoint its exact location.
- Activate the Portal: In the stronghold, you will find a room with a frame for the End Portal. Insert Eyes of Ender into each frame block until all are filled. The portal will activate, and you can step into it.
- Enter the End: Walk into the portal to enter the End dimension.
Remember that both the Nether and the End can be extremely challenging environments in Minecraft, so come prepared with armor, weapons, and supplies. In the End, you’ll also face the Ender Dragon as the final boss battle of the game.
