How to Enable Emergency Bypass on iPhone

Emergency Bypass is a feature on iPhones that allows calls and text messages from emergency contacts to come through even when your phone is set to Do Not Disturb or another Focus mode. To enable Emergency Bypass on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Contacts app.
  2. Find the contact you want to add to your Emergency Bypass list.
  3. Tap Edit.
  4. Tap Ringtone.
  5. Toggle on Emergency Bypass.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for any other contacts you want to add to your Emergency Bypass list.
  7. Tap Done.

Once you have enabled Emergency Bypass for a contact, calls and text messages from that contact will always come through, even if your phone is set to Do Not Disturb or another Focus mode.

Here are some things to keep in mind about Emergency Bypass:

  • Emergency Bypass only applies to calls and text messages from contacts that you have added to your Emergency Bypass list.
  • Emergency Bypass does not apply to other notifications, such as emails, social media alerts, or app notifications.
  • Emergency Bypass can be disabled in the Settings app.
