If your iPhone’s power button is broken or unresponsive, you can still power off or lock the screen using the AssistiveTouch feature. Here are the steps to do it:
- Go to “Settings” on your iPhone.
- Tap “General” and then “Accessibility”.
- Scroll down and tap “AssistiveTouch”.
- Turn on the “AssistiveTouch” toggle switch.
- A small, round, virtual button will appear on the screen. Tap it.
- Tap “Device” and then “Lock Screen” to turn off the screen.
- To power off your iPhone, tap the virtual button, and then tap and hold the “Lock Screen” icon.
- An option to “Slide to power off” will appear. Slide the slider to the right to turn off your iPhone.
Note: Turning off your iPhone using this method will not harm your device. However, it is not recommended to use this as a regular way to power off your device, as the longer-term use of AssistiveTouch may cause battery drain. It is best to have the power button repaired or replaced by an authorized technician as soon as possible.
