How to Turn Off the Paragraph Symbol in Word

The paragraph symbol in Word is a formatting mark that represents the end of a paragraph. It appears as a backward P with two vertical lines. To turn off the paragraph symbol in Word, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Word document.
  2. Click the “Home” tab on the ribbon.
  3. Click the “Show/Hide” button in the Paragraph group. This button looks like a paragraph symbol (¶).
  4. The paragraph symbols will disappear from the document. If you want to turn them back on, simply click the “Show/Hide” button again.

Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + Shift + 8” to toggle the paragraph symbols on and off.

Note that turning off the paragraph symbol does not affect the actual paragraphs in your document. It simply hides the symbol from view.
