- Visit Amazon Household.
- Add Adult/Child:
- Click on “Add Adult” to add another adult to your Household. You can also add up to four children.
- Follow the prompts to invite your family member via email.
- Accept Invitation:
- The invited person will receive an email. They need to accept the invitation and sign in to their Amazon account.
- Manage Family Library:
- Once the Household is set up, go to “Manage Your Content and Devices” on Amazon.
- Under the “Your Content” tab, you can choose which books to share with your Household members by selecting the book and clicking on “Add to Library”.
Sharing Kindle Books via Kindle Book Lending
If you don’t want to set up an Amazon Household, you can lend certain Kindle books directly to friends. Here’s how:
Step 1: Check Eligibility
- Eligible Books:
- Not all Kindle books are eligible for lending. Check the product details on the book’s Amazon page to see if it can be lent.
Step 2: Lend a Book
- Go to Manage Your Content and Devices:
- Select the Book:
- Under the “Your Content” tab, find the book you want to lend.
- Click the “More Actions” button (three dots) next to the book.
- Lend This Title:
- If the book is eligible for lending, you’ll see an option to “Loan this title”.
- Click on it and enter the recipient’s email address and an optional message.
- Send:
- Click “Send now”. The recipient will have 7 days to accept the loan. Once accepted, they can read the book for up to 14 days.
Sharing Kindle Books via Amazon Prime Reading
If you and your family or friends are Amazon Prime members, you can share books through Prime Reading.
Step 1: Use Prime Reading
- Visit Prime Reading:
- Go to Prime Reading.
- Borrow Books:
- You can borrow up to 10 titles at a time. These books are automatically shared with your linked Amazon Household members.
Important Notes
- Restrictions: Kindle book lending has restrictions. You can only lend a book once, and during the loan period, you won’t have access to the book.
- Digital Rights Management (DRM): Some books come with DRM protection, limiting how they can be shared or copied.
Troubleshooting
- Not Seeing Shared Books:
- Ensure that both parties have accepted the Amazon Household invitation.
- Make sure the books are added to the Family Library.
- Book Not Available for Lending:
- If the “Loan this title” option is not available, the publisher has restricted lending for that book.
By following these steps, you can easily share your Kindle books with family and friends, enhancing your reading experience and theirs. Happy reading!
