To make and upgrade a map in Minecraft, follow these steps:

  1. Crafting a map: To make a map, you will need to gather 8 pieces of paper and 1 compass. To craft a compass, you will need 4 iron ingots and 1 redstone dust. Once you have all the required materials, open the crafting menu and place the 8 pieces of paper around the edges of the crafting grid, leaving the center square empty. Then, place the compass in the center square to craft a map.
  2. Using the map: To use the map, simply hold it in your hand and right-click. This will bring up the map interface, which will display your current location and the surrounding terrain. The map will only show a certain area, and will need to be expanded to show more.
